1-5 Days: Siem Reap Itinerary

1 Day Siem Reap Pickup from Airport

Most of my clients I guided were interested in cultural temples, museums, and local experiences in Siem Reap. On the first day, I pick them up from the airport and take them to the hotel overnight.

2-Day Siem Reap tours

On the second day, we started to visit Bakong, Preah Ko, Beng Melea, and the floating village.

This special second day features a unique off-the-beaten-track tour designed to help us avoid crowded tourists while exploring the Rolous group, including Bakong Temple and Preah Ko, which is known as the first ancient capital city in Siem Reap. It takes around 25 minutes to drive from the hotel. Continue to see Beng Mealea, also known as the jungle temples. It is particularly special for its original structure, which is covered by the jungle. We will have lunch around 12:00 PM, and then we will visit the floating village to observe how people live on the water and enjoy the views of the great lake. You can interact with school or children at the lake.  After the floating village, we return back to the hotel. In the evening, we pick up my clients to see Apsara dancing to learn about Cambodian cultural shows and enjoy dinner there. After the show, we bring them back to the hotel and overnight.

3-Day Angkor Wat Sunrise

On the third day, we start early in the morning, pick you up from the hotel at 5:00 AM, and head up to see the Angkor Wat sunrise. After sunrise, we have breakfast near the temple.

We continue to see the Gate of Angkor Thom; it is so impressive to see giant statues flanked by Nagas (snakes) and popular selfie photos.  Continue to see Bayon Temple, also known as the smiling temple, located in the middle of the Angkor Thom capital city. You will definitely learn about a great king who built many temples and more temples than others.  We continue to see Taphrom (Tomb Raider Temple). You must see this temple; it is really worth seeing a giant tree grow up and cover the structure. After these temples, we return back to the hotel. We take our clients to the Phare circus in the evening. It is really fun and worth a visit, as most of my clients are family.

4-Day Phnom Kulen Waterfall

3 days phnom kulen tour

On the fourth day, I always arrange Phnom Kulen tickets before our tour starts to save our time. We pick up the clients from the hotel at 8:30 AM and head up to Phnom Kulen. There are four attractions worth visiting there. Natural Cliff is really a stunning panorama photo to see the peak of the mountain. We continue to observe the 1000 lingas, along with the flowing water that mixes small and large lingas in the riverbed. You will see and learn about why carving 1000 lingas in the rivers and secret places is for Hinduism.

We continue to see Big Buddha, also known as the local shrine, busy with local and non-local tourists visiting and praying there. We can take a picture of the big Buddha reclining there.

The last things to do on Phnom Kulen are to visit the waterfall and enjoy swimming there. After fourth place, we start to climb down and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant near the foot of the mountain. After lunch, we visit Banteay Srei temple, and then we return back to the hotel.

On Phnom Kulen, there is a schedule that allows climbing up before 12 p.m. and climbing down after 12 p.m. regarding the narrow road.

5-Day Siem Reap City Tour

The most popular thing to do in the city is to visit the local village and support local people by riding the ox cart.  We visit Denture ‘d Angkor to see how local people make silk and soap. We continue to the Angkor National Museum to learn more about Khmer culture and history.

In the afternoon, we get lunch in the city, and then we go shopping in the old market. After shopping, we return back to the hotel.

The best thing I’ve ever told my clients to do in Siem Reap is the 1–5 Day Siem Reap Route. Families or couples who want to stay longer in Siem Reap should really follow this plan. If you want to book a tour in Siem Reap but need to change some things about the schedule,  refer to the Siem Reap itinerary.
