First Day Battambang Itinerary 

We begin our journey to Battambang from Siem Reap . Reaching out takes three hours. We visit the center market after we get there. Meeting locals and shopping there is a pleasure. After an additional hour of seeing Sala Khet, we have lunch.

Phsar Nat is the heart of Battambang’s local culture. This bustling market is a morning hotspot where vendors sell fresh fish, fruits, vegetables, and other local goods. While most shopkeepers don’t speak English, their friendly demeanor and the vibrant atmosphere make it a delightful experience. Strolling through the market offers a glimpse into everyday Cambodian life, and it’s a perfect place for window shopping or picking up unique souvenirs.

A visit to  Sala Khaet (Governor’s Residence) is a step back in time. This beautiful French colonial building showcases Cambodia’s colonial history and cultural heritage. For just $3, visitors can explore exhibits of traditional Cambodian musical instruments, iconic Khmer costumes, and the history of this architectural gem. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in the fusion of Khmer and colonial influences.

Slaket Pagoda

Slaket Pagoda provides a serene environment to learn about Buddhism and Cambodian spiritual practices. It’s fascinating to observe young monks living and studying here, offering a deeper understanding of their lifestyle and dedication. The intricate details of the pagoda’s architecture also make it a wonderful spot for photography.

Dive into Cambodia’s culinary roots at Prohok Market, where you can witness the process of making prohok, the country’s signature fermented fish paste. This lively market is a hub of activity, showcasing the hard work of locals who prepare this essential ingredient used in many Cambodian dishes. It’s a unique cultural experience that food lovers shouldn’t miss.

If you’re a foodie, the Spring Roll Village is an absolute delight. Here, you can watch locals skillfully prepare fresh spring rolls and even try making some yourself. This visit not only provides a hands-on cultural experience but also lets you savor the delicious results of your efforts. You can make donation to local people who are working there 2  USD per person that is our tourist usually do .

Cambodian White Wine

For something unexpected, explore Battambang’s small but charming wineries. Cambodian white wine might surprise you with its quality and unique flavor. A tasting session is a wonderful way to unwind while learning about the local winemaking process. It is highly recommend prepare your budget 3 USD per person for donation to white wine.

Phnom Sampov is a must-visit for nature lovers. This hilltop temple offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, but the real magic happens at sunset. It is recommend to leave your hotel at 4:30 Pm to reach out there enough time .  Thousands of bats stream out of the cave in a mesmerizing display, making it an unforgettable experience.

Second Day Battambang Itinerary 

We get up a little early  to catch the Bamboo train at Phnom Sampov, which takes about half an hour to get there. We spend an hour there and like riding the bamboo train. We also like to take pictures of the paddy rice and the surrounding countryside while we are there. Following the bamboo train, we return to the city and spend the night at a traditional home before returning to Siem Reap.

No visit to Bamboo Train (Norry) is complete without riding the iconic Bamboo Train, or norry. It take around 40 minutes with Norry, Osrolao , one of the best recommend to do with this local place. It takes around 30 minutes from the city to this place.  This simple yet thrilling ride through scenic countryside is a highlight for many visitors. It’s a relaxing way to connect with the rural charm of Battambang and a perfect activity to wrap up your stay.
